ouncil Arboriculture Victoria (CAV) will be represented at this year’s International Society of Arboriculture Annual Conference and Tradeshow. This year’s event is being held in Fort Worth, Texas from the 13th to the 17th of August 2016.
Coordinator of Arboriculture at the City of Monash, Robert Mineo, has been invited to present on the topic of managing tree root conflicts. Prior to being employed at the City of Monash for the past 12 years, Robert worked as an owner operator in his own tree care business for six years. These combined have provided Robert substantial numbers of case studies and evidence to support his presentation.
In a presentation aptly titled ‘Please stop your tree roots from destroying my house!’ Robert’s presentation focuses on three main areas; Is there really a root problem? Site Assessment and Analysis, Four Methods of Assessment and, Remedial Actions. These three areas are supported with data from Robert’s works management system from 2008 to 2016
While discussing some of the more common misconceptions Robert provides photographic evidence of the relationship between tree roots and adjoining infrastructure. The presentation aims to engage the audience in looking at alternative management practices.
Robert has been a regular contributor to CAV and has previously served as Secretary and an Executive Board member in the early days of CAV’s formalisation for two consecutive years.
